Three Teens Charged With Arson for Crystal Lake Fire
The teens, ages 13 to 15 years old, were arrested Friday after police said they set a fire that destroyed a Crystal Lake home in March.

Three teens face felony arson charges after police said they intentionally set a fire that destroyed a Crystal Lake home in March.
The teens, ages 13 to 15 years old, were arrested Friday and have been charged with residential arson, a class 1 felony; arson, a class 2 felony; and two counts of criminal damage to property, a class 2 felony, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department press release.
They are accused of setting a fire in the garage of a home at 62 Barberry Drive in Crystal Lake on March 22. The fire, police said, quickly spread to the home.

Fire, smoke and water damage caused an estimated $180,000 in damage and the home was razed, according to Crystal Lake police.
An investigation into the cause of the fire was conducted by the Crystal Lake Police, along with the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and Investigators with the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

All three teens were processed and released to their parent or guardian following their arrest. They are expected to appear in juvenile court at the McHenry County Courthouse.
