TLC Offers Beginner’s Chainsaw Training in Woodstock

Class takes place Oct. 12

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC) is offering a beginner’s chainsaw training course which will take place Saturday Oct. 12, from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Hennen Conservation Area, 4622 Dean St. Woodstock, IL. The cost of the course is $35 for TLC members and $50 for those who are not members of The Land Conservancy. Participants can register here to attend.

The Land Conservancy’s ecologist, Megan Oropeza, will teach the basics of using a chainsaw in a hands-on way. Participants will be introduced to protective equipment, basic chainsaw maintenance and the development of technique to safely fell a tree and cut it up. This class is tailored for beginners who have never used a chainsaw. The program is limited to 15 participants. Attendees should bring a lunch and water.

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is a member-based private nonprofit dedicated to preserving natural, scenic and agricultural land.
