Trojans' Fall Late at Hersey

C-G leads all the way but loses at end.

Saturday night’s game between and Hersey wasn’t one that will go down as one of the best games you will ever see.

For the Trojans and their fans, it will go down as disappointing in the end as C-G saw an eight-point third quarter slip away as the Huskies rallied at home for a 39-36 win in Arlington Heights.

Cary (13-7) took an early 8-3 advantage and led all the way until Hersey tied the game with 30 seconds left and took the lead for good on two free-throws by Jen Hall with five seconds to go.

Cary was led on the night by Olivia Jakubicek, who scored 20 points but fouled out with 33 seconds to play. Jakubicek said that Cary had control of the game most of the way.

“We were battling the whole time and at the end, a few things didn’t go our way,” Jakubicek said. “That’s really what got us.”

Jakubicek added that after getting her fourth foul with just over five minutes to play, she had to change her game when she finally returned.

“After that, I just had to take a step back, concentrate on my defense and adjust to the refs,” Jakubicek said.

Paige Lincicum added nine points for C-G, who will play Wednesday night at Stevenson in Lincolnshire.
