Smoke and water damage have left the home uninhabitable, according to fire officials.
MCHENRY TOWNSHIP, IL — Two people were hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening after a fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in a single-family home in the 1200 block of N. Chapel Hill Road in unincorporated McHenry County.
Four occupants escaped the home safely as flames were visible from a front window when McHenry Township Fire Protection District crews arrived around 3:45 p.m., according to a news release.
Firefighters immediately launched an aggressive attack and conducted a search for additional victims, bringing the fire under control in less than 10 minutes. The blaze was largely confined to the living room and kitchen, but smoke and water caused extensive damage throughout the home, which is now uninhabitable.
