An underground fire Monday evening in Crystal Lake resulted in power outages that, at one point, affected 2,000 customers, the Northwest Herald reports.
Firefighters were called to Knaack Boulevard and Route 176 and at about 6 p.m. on Monday after a manhole cover blew off on Knaack, according to the article.
The power outages lead to several calls for firefighters regarding commercial alarms falsely going off and a couple halted in an elevator, the newspaper reports.
