Volunteers Sought For Festival of Lights Parade

The annual holiday event is scheduled for Nov. 26.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Volunteers are being sought for the Festival of the Lights Parade in Crystal Lake.

The parade is scheduled for Nov. 26. Volunteers ages 14 years and older are needed from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to help with setup. Helpers will put out traffic cones to close the streets, according to a city of Crystal Lake news release.

In addition, volunteers ages 18 years and older are needed from 6 to 9 p.m. for crowd control. The volunteers will need to make sure spectators stay up on the curb and may need help with the placement of barricades to restrict traffic and crowds. They will also be asked to help parade marshals in keeping streets clear and safe for parade vehicles.

They will also need to stack cones at the end of the night and place them at the corners.

Parade marshals are also needed and will greet assigned parade units and help them set up in the proper location and remind them of all parade safety rules. Marshals will walk with assigned parade units along the parade route, ensuring compliance with rules, assisting crowd control, and ensuring safe passage for parade units, according to the news release.
