Volunteers Sought To Help Clean Up Flooded Homes

In addition, volunteers are need to clean up debris on streets and help with filling sandbags in McHenry County.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- The McHenry County Emergency Management Agency is partnering with Team Rubicon to assist residents affected by flooding. For those who are interested in assisting residents affected, volunteer are being sought who can: clean out homes and clean up debris and move debris from streets.

Both of these activities are strenuous and could include heavy lifting, twisting, bending, crawling and carrying heavy loads. Those who would like to assist are expected to arrive on scene in appropriate work attire which would be:

  • Closed toed boots
  • Long pants
  • Long sleeved shirt
  • Work Gloves are highly recommended
  • Hat to protect from the sun
  • Sunscreen and bug spray

Work Assignments are expected to begin on Mondat, July 24.

In addition, Nunda Township has requested help with sandbagging Friday and Saturday beginning at 5 a.m. on Friday. Those interested in helping can head over to the Nunda Township offices at 3518 Bay Road in Crystal Lake.
