The Wailin’ Mahalias will perform at the Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry worship service April 6 service at 10:45 am. The theme of the special musical service will be The Magical Mystery—Joy.

For the Wailin’ Mahalias, music becomes a mission. Their songs celebrate spirit, love, and the human experience, in a way that entertains, excites, and inspires. The heart and soul of Folk and Gospel are kept alive with reshaped lyrics that reach across all faiths and cultures. Vocals are wrapped in rich harmonies; instruments strike spirited chords, and while many of its members honed their harmonies in the Lake Street Church of Evanston Choir, their music is wide-ranging and inspired by a scope of artists from Joan Baez to Mahalia Jackson.

Lilli Kuzma, host of Folk Festival on WDCB Public Radio, has noted: “The Wailin’ Mahalias are simply great in live performance—all smiles and lots of soul. The musical repertoire is as infectious as the performance. This talented group is highly recommended.”
