West Beach Opens Saturday For Summer Season

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Crystal Lake's second beach, West Beach, will open this weekend for the summer season.

Main Beach, located at 300 Lake Shore Drive, opened last Saturday, and West Beach is set to open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, according to Crystal Lake Park District officials. West Beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day through Aug. 11.

West Park, located at 2330 Lake Avenue, is home to the second public beach facility in Crystal Lake. The site offers a multi-purpose building with restrooms, a classroom and concession area.

Main Beach opened on Saturday, May 27, and will begin its summer hours starting this Saturday, which means the beach will be open daily from 9 a.m. to dusk until Aug. 10. Boat rentals, including kayaks, stand up paddleboards, paddleboats, canoes and rowboats, are available to rent at Main Beach.

Entrance fees to the beaches in Crystal Lake is $1 per person for park district residents — that rate also applies for four additional guests. Senior citizens over the age of 60 years old and children 3 years old and younger are free. The twilight rate (after 5 p.m.) for all park district residents is also free.

Admission fees for non-residents is $12 for ages 16 to 59 years old and $9 for ages 4 to 15 years old. Children 3 years old and younger are free and the twilight rate for non-residents is half-price.
