Woman, 70, Rescued After Falling Asleep At Wheel, Driving Into Pond: Authorities
Firefighters removed the Lake Barrington woman from her partially submerged vehicle in North Barrington on Saturday morning, police said.
NORTH BARRINGTON, IL — A woman escaped serious injury Saturday morning after reportedly falling asleep behind the wheel and driving off Route 59 into a pond in North Barrington, authorities said.
Emergency crews responded to the area near Route 59 and Scott Road in North Barrington at about 3 p.m. Tuesday and found the vehicle partially submerged in the water. Firefighters removed the woman from the vehicle and she was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to authorities. Officials said the crash remains under investigation.
