Woman Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle in Harvard

The 59-year-old woman was crossing Route 173 in Harvard when she was hit by a vehicle.

HARVARD, IL - A 59-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Harvard Wednesday night, police said. The woman, whose name has not been released, was crossing Brink Street/Route 173 near South Division Street when she was hit by an eastbound 2007 Nissan. The Harvard Police Department and Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the scene at 9:18 p.m., according to a news release from the police department.

The woman was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan, a 25-year-old man, was treated at the scene and released, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Harvard Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
