An autopsy is scheduled for today for the 86-year-old Deerfield woman.

WHEELING, IL – An 86-year-old Deerfield woman has died two weeks after she crashed her SUV while backing out of parking space at the U.S. Post Office in Wheeling, according to the Daily Herald. An autopsy is scheduled today for Joan W. Gerrard who apparently drove her 2005 Chevy Equinox over the curb at the post office at about 3:10 p.m. on April 17 before accelerating and sideswiping a car. She then crashed into a chain-link fence and several trees, the newspaper reports.
Her injuries were initially not considered life-threatening when she was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the Daily Herald reports. Authorities said she died early Sunday morning at the hospital.
