CARY, IL — A 20-year-old Cary woman accused of providing a woman with the Xanax pills that contributed to a McHenry teen's death has been sentenced to four years in prison, prosecutors said. Reanna R. Salas was found guilty of one count of delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 3 felony, after entering a negotiated plea in McHenry County.

Salas delivered alprazolam to Jacob Reis on May 14, 2018, and Reis then passed the pills onto Rachel Ramirez, 19, of McHenry, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office. Ramirez died as a result of a fatal drug overdose.

A medical and toxicological examination revealed the alprazolam, as well as other substances, contributed to her death.
