Woman Tried To Steal Cash From Gas Station: Police

The attempted armed robbery in Crystal Lake happened Thursday night. Authorities are asking for the publics help in locating the suspect.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Authorities in Crystal Lake are looking for a woman who they believe tried to rob a gas station on Halloween night. The woman entered the Mobil, 250 N. Route 31, and displayed a suspected handgun at about 9:20 p.m., police said.

The woman then demanded cash from the cashier before fleeing the store without any money, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. The suspect was last seen running north from the scene.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white woman in her 20s or 30s. She was astound 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

Crystal Lake Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding the case to contact the Crystal Lake Police Department at (815) 356-3620 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 762-STOP (7867) for those who wish to remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers does pay cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of any individual.

In addition, anyone with a cell phone can send an anonymous tip to the Crystal Lake Police Department by texting the word CLPDTIP along with the tip information to 847411.
