Coroner IDs Woodstock Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash
The single-vehicle collision occurred Sunday morning on Kishwaukee Valley Road near Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK, IL – The McHenry County Coroner's Office had identified a 72-year-old Woodstock man killed Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash near Woodstock as Donald E. Hansen, authorities said. The collision occurred at 11:03 a.m. when a 2006 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe was headed east on Kishwaukee Valley Road, just west of Vermont Road, when Hansen apparently drove off the right side of the curved roadway, a preliminary investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office revealed. The motorcycle headed into a ditch, up over Vermont Road and came to a rest on the east side of Vermont Road, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The man was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained severe injuries. He was taken to Centegra Medical Center in Woodstock where he was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m., according to the coroner's office.
An autopsy performed Monday showed Hansen died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Hansen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. The motorcycle had no mechanical issues, police said. The investigation revealed that the "driver's motorcycle operational abilities were believed to have contributed to the crash," according to a news release.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
