Woodstock Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

Police in Woodstock are investigating a fatal shooting after a male victim was found dead in a public parking lot early this morning, the Woodstock Independent reports. The victim, whose age and name have not been released, was taken to a local emergency room where he was pronounced dead.

Officers were at the scene of an incident at Woodstock Square at about 1:15 a.m.when they heard gunfire, according to the Woodstock Independent.

The victim was found in the municipal parking lot at the intersection of E. Calhoun St. and N. Jefferson St., according to Suburban Life Publications.

The shooting appears to be an isolated incident, police told ABC 7. Authorities said there is no risk to the public.
