‘World’s Largest’ Corn Maze Unveils Patriotic Design

SPRING GROVE, IL — The twists, turns and towering attractions of Richardson “World’s Largest” Corn Maze and Adventure Farm return Saturday, Sept. 12, with new amenities, expanded play areas and nearly 10 miles of trails to explore.

The 28-acre corn maze at 909 English Prairie Road features a patriotic design celebrating America250, including images of Declaration of Independence signers, the Betsy Ross flag and an American eagle, according to a news release.

“I’m excited for our farm to display a fantastic maze celebrating America250,” owner Ryan Richardson said. “It’s a great time to appreciate the country and the freedoms we all share.”

The farm draws about 100,000 visitors each year, with the corn maze serving as its centerpiece. Other attractions available include: Pig races, giant slides and jumping pillows, pedal karts, a 50-foot observation tower, a zip line, an antique carousel, train and wagon rides, a small petting zoo, a wine bar and craft beer at the Barrel House, rentable campfire sites and a sunflower field and additional trails when in bloom

This year’s improvements include a fourth jumping pillow, expanded children’s play areas and a refreshed concession menu. A low ropes course introduced last year also has been expanded with additional climbing activities.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to our farm, and helping them create meaningful memories,” Richardson said.

The Barrel House also has been updated with new windows and garage-style glass doors that can open the space to the outdoors during pleasant fall weather. The space features four craft beer varieties from 9th Hour Brewing.

For families and groups looking for a place to gather, Richardson Farm has 100 picnic and campfire sites available for four-hour rentals. Prices range from $130 for a site with one picnic table to $290 for a larger site with five tables.

Renters can bring their own small grill or cook s’mores and hot dogs over the campfire. Firewood is provided.

Campfire sites can be reserved through Richardson Farm by selecting “Groups & Rentals.” The farm is dog-friendly, with well-behaved, leashed dogs welcome.

The farm will remain open through Nov. 1.

Admission ranges from $22 for children ages 4 to 12 in September to $32 for adults on October weekends. Parking is free. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate through Richardson Farm.
