Your Guide To McHenry's ShamROCKS The Fox Fest

Find out when to stop out to watch the Fox River turn green and to enjoy live music, green beer and more.

MCHENRY, IL — It will soon be time again to watch the Fox River turn green in McHenry and celebrate St. Patrick's Day with friends and family.

Preparations are underway for the McHenry ShamROCKS the Fox Festival, which will be held March 17 to 19. Highlights of the festival include the dying of the Fox River, which is expected to get underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, at 1402 Riverside Drive.

The Pearl Street bridge will be closed to traffic to provide more room for those wishing to watch the Fox River be turned to a vibrant shade of green.

Other festivities worth checking out is the McHenry Shamrocks the Fox Parade, which will step off at 12 p.m. on March 18 in downtown McHenry. The full parade route can be found here.

Meanwhile, there will be plenty of fun taking place at Miller Point Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, March, 18, and from 12 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, with food trucks, live music, kids activities and, of course, green beer.

7th Heaven will perform at Miller Point Park starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, March 17, and Fast Times will take the stage at Miller Point Park at 8:45 on Saturday, March 18. Other highlights include the Kiwanis Shamrock Shuffle 5k, which starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 18, and the McHenry ShamROCKS the Fox Fireworks at Miller Point Park, which will begin at 7 pm.
