From 2018 to 2025, enrollment fell by 19 percent at South and 13 percent at Central, according to state figures.

On Monday, the board unanimously voted to cut the certified staff to 352, from 360.

The board also decided to leave unfilled two adminstrative positons after this school year. They are the director of professional learning and the director of data analytics.

At the board meeting, member Jeff Waters said the district has made progress in cutting the certified staff's size to reflect enrollment. Officials should aim for 333, he said.

"We've taken some steps," Waters said. "I think it's important perhaps to be prepared for similar conversations next year."
