Darien Checking 'No Man's Land'
Dumping and a deteriorating fence are alleged on commercial land.

DARIEN, IL – Darien is checking for violations on a commercial property next to houses in a Darien neighborhood.
The land in question is behind businesses on Cass Avenue. On the other side are the backyards of houses on Park Crest Drive, Bob O Link Lane and Hinswood Drive.
On Monday, Ward 1 Alderman Ted Schauer told his colleagues that a Bob O Link constituent had reached out to him about problems with the deteriorating fence.

"It's pretty bad," Schauer said.
Dan Gombac, the city's municipal services director, said the city has issued a notice of violation to the property owner. Gombac referred to the property as a "no man's land" because it was hidden.

"Last year, we had a similar complaint, to which certain things were addressed," except the storm sewer, Gombac said.
Schauer also said the resident alerted him about dumping on the property.
Gombac replied, "I wasn't familiar with the dumping or the extent of it. I also have our public works superintendent evaluating the site for debris and/or deficiencies within the storm sewer infrastructure."
Schauer said he was glad the city was on top of the issues.
