DARIEN, IL – A Darien police officer decided to check on the vape shop at Brookhaven Plaza early one morning last week after a report of a burglary at a vape store in another town, authorities said.

The officer got there shortly after 2 a.m. Friday and saw a Dodge Charger leaving the area, police said. The driver was at Cass Avenue and Plainfield Road when the officer tried to make a traffic stop.

The driver refused to stop, sped east on Plainfield Road and entered southbound Interstate 55, police said. The officer then stopped the pursuit.
