Darien Country Club Didn't Get Permit For Project: Official
A resident alerted Darien about the project, so the city looked into it.
DARIEN, IL – Carriage Greens Country Club did not get a permit for a building project on its property, an official said last week.
In response to a Patch inquiry, Dan Gombac, Darien's municipal services director, said Carriage Greens started to enclose its gazebo without a permit.
A resident thought it was a new structure and alerted the village about it, but it was not a new building, Gombac said.

"A permit will be required and their architect is in the process of updating a report for structural compliance," Gombac said in an email. "The use will be a storage shed."
The issue was mentioned at last Monday's City Council meeting.

Carriage Greens owners Brian and Adriana Broderick did not return an emailed message for comment last Tuesday.
Since last fall, Carriage Greens has engaged in a bitter legal battle with a restaurant that leases space at its property.
In 2019, a split City Council voted to give $366,000 to the country club, characterizing it as an economic development initiative.
According to the city, the money would be paid back from increased income from virtual golf revenue sharing as well as sales, amusement, food and beverage, and video gambling taxes.
