The former vice president made off with more than $600,000 in an eight-year scheme, prosecutors said.
DARIEN, IL – A Darien man who defrauded a Chicago area hospital out of more than $600,000 was indicted Wednesday, federal authorities said.

Despite that, Spadoni caused the hospital to enter into an agreement with Medical Education Solutions, a company that Spadoni established, the news release said.
The contract was for Spadoni's company to provide administrative support and compliance services for the hospital's podiatry residency program.
Under its terms, the hospital agreed to pay $6,500 a month for the purported services that Spadoni knew his company would not provide, prosecutors said.
Instead, Spadoni paid $1,500 to one of his hospital employees to perform the services that his company was hired to do, prosecutors said. Spadoni and a family member concealed their interest in the company, according to the news release.
Spadoni and the family member are accused of using the money from the contract for their own benefit. The family member was not identified.
The crimes occurred from December 2013 to July 2021, prosecutors said.
An arraignment in federal court has not been set.
