Darien Police Accepting Applications For Community Service Officer

The Darien Police Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time Community Service Officer.

DARIEN, IL — The Darien Police Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time Community Service Officer (CSO). According to the city newsletter, this is a 19 hour per week position with no additional benefits. The CSO is a non-sworn employee, and is responsible for providing general support for the department and service to residents through community policing.

The position includes Saturdays and Sundays (8 a.m.-6 p.m., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.),excludes holidays, and schedules may vary. According to the city newsletter, the starting pay is $18.70 per hour. Uniforms and equipment are provided.

According to the newsletter, the CSO enforces the ordinances of the city, including parking, animal complaints and other city codes, along with providing general assistance to police officers, citizens and the community. The CSO also fulfills the many and varied requests from administration, detectives and office personnel for business-related errands outside of the police facility.
