Darien Street Resurfacing Begins Monday (Interactive Map)

The city plans to repave 4.9 miles of road this year.

With warm weather comes construction season. 

So it’s only fitting that Darien begin its annual street repaving program Monday after a beautiful weekend.

Over the course of the rest of the spring and early summer, will tackle 4.9 miles of city roadway, as well as parking lots at Public Works and .

Repaving is a four-part process, according to the city of Darien website.

First, workers will grind off the top two to three inches of the road. They will then apply an asphalt product to level the surface. Once the surface is even, they’ll spread a crack control treatment that makes the pavement last longer. Finally, they will apply a bituminous topcoat.
