Deaf Academic Bowl Earns Ninth Place in National Competition

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 congratulates the Hinsdale South High School students and coaches who participated in the Deaf Academic Bowl. The team finished in ninth place at the national tournament held at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Steven Putz received special recognition by being named an “All-Star Player,” one of only eight students to earn the honor at this year’s competition.
The Academic Bowl hosts teams with a total of 96 players from 24 schools across the country. The competition was founded to promote academic excellence among deaf and hard of hearing students. The rounds consist of a question-and-answer game of general knowledge topics testing students’ quick recall. Questions are drawn from various subjects including, language and literature; science and technology; mathematics and sports.
