DuPage County Animal Services Offers Fee-Waived Dog, Cat Adoption

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County Animal Service is teaming up with DuPage Animal Friends, Best Friends Animal Society and more than 270 other partner rescue groups across the country to offer fee-waived adoptions in hopes of finding homes for 10,000 pets in 10 days.

Thanks to the generosity of donors from the DuPage Animal Friends, DCAS is waiving the adoption fee on all adult cats and adult dogs 6 years and older.

“If you get excited when a stranger pays for your coffee, imagine the joy you’ll feel when adopting a pet whose adoption fee has been covered,” Julie Castle, chief executive officer of Best Friends Animal Society, said in a release.

According to a release, getting adoptable pets into homes is crucial this time of year, as each summer shelters and rescues across the country flood with stray and relinquished dogs and cats. Summer also marks the arrival of kittens. When animal populations skyrocket, resources become stretched, adult dogs and cats struggle to compete with their younger counterparts for an adopter’s attention and for cage space.

“It is our hope that through this promotion, adopters will be more likely to find the perfect match for their family, adopt instead of shop, and open up life-saving cage space for another animal in need,” DuPage County Animal Services Committee Chairman Brian Krajewski said in a release.
