HINSDALE, IL – The president of the Hinsdale High School District 86 apparently became irritated last week with a member's corrections of her handling of the meeting.

At a meeting, President Catherine Greenspon asked for the secretary to "please call roll" on the purchase of security equipment.

Member Kay Gallo said, "Now you say 'discussion.' Trust me. Trust me."

The following discussion lasted about 10 minutes.

Then Greenspon asked, "Is there a motion to award the bid?"

Gallo objected again.

"We've already had that motion, so now you just call the roll," she advised.

"Thanks, Kay," Greenspon said.

"You're welcome," Gallo replied.

Greenspon added, "It's too bad you can't read the script, huh?"

Both Greenspon and Gallo were elected in April, along with Asma Akhras. Gallo served as the president six years ago.

In early May, Greenspon was selected as president in a 4-3 vote, with the dissenting votes going to member Debbie Levinthal. Gallo made the case for Levinthal.

The new board majority appears united on the ouster of Superintendent Tammy Prentiss, but divisions occur on other issues.

Last week's clash pales in comparison to the late-night confrontation in the parking lot between two board members after a 2021 meeting.
