Houses Broken Into In Darien Neighborhoods

DARIEN, IL – In the last few days, Darien police handled cases involving burglary, attempted burglary, domestic battery and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports:

Burglary

  • A house in the 7400 block of Adams Street was burglarized between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday. Suspects broke the lock on the back sliding door and removed multiple items from the house.
  • Three masked men burglarized a house about 9 a.m. Thursday in the 2700 block of Woodmere Drive. They broke out the second-floor sliding door. The homeowner saw the men on surveillance video and called the police while the men were still inside. A SWAT team found no men in the house. Patch wrote a story about the incident last week.

Attempted burglary

  • Occupants in a house in the 3000 block of Grandview Place awoke about 6 a.m. Saturday to find pry marks on their sliding door. They said they heard noise downstairs between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday and looked down the stairs, but did not see anything.
  • Surveillance video shows that someone tried to burglarize a car about 4 a.m. March 20 in the 8400 block of Captons Lane. A man was seen with a flashlight looking into a driver's side window. He then ran toward a white Grand Cherokee with tinted windows.

Domestic battery

  • A 33-year-old woman was arrested about 6 p.m. Saturday at WoodSpring Suites, 951 N. Frontage Road, on charges of domestic battery and unlawful use of a weapon. In the same incident, a 33-year-old man was charged with violating an order of protection. Both were taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

  • A 20-year-old Brookfield man was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on charges of retail theft and battery. The theft occurred at Walmart, 2189 75th St. The man fled in a blue Chevrolet Camaro by the time officers arrived. Brookfield police found the man at his home.
