Man Dies After Being Pulled Out Of Darien Retention Pond: Cops

The man was revived with initial success, and he was transported to Hinsdale Hospital, where he later passed away.

DARIEN, IL — A man has passed away after an accidental drowning in Darien on Monday, police said. Darien Police responded to a well-being check in the 1000 block of Park Crest Drive at 1:40 a.m. Oct. 8 after a citizen reported hearing a woman screaming.

Officers then went to the 7900 block of Cass and found a man lying face down in the water of a retention pond, according to police. The woman who was heard screaming and two men were Good Samaritans attempting to pull the unconscious man out of the water and up a muddy slope.

The Good Samaritans and the Darien police officers tried to revive the man with initial success, and he was transported to Hinsdale Hospital where he later passed away. Police said the investigation is ongoing but appears to be an accidental drowning.
