DARIEN, IL – Two men can be seen on video in a well-coordinated maneuver to steal more than $20,000 in jewelry from Darien's Walmart earlier this month, police said. It lasted a few minutes.

In the overhead video, two men can be seen with fully loaded carts showing up at the jewelry counter at the same time, coming from different directions.

Both men placed their carts in front of the counter, with one of them immediately leaving.
The remaining man can be seen taking items for the next seven minutes. He shifted the carts as he moved along the counter, keeping one cart on each side of him, perhaps in an attempt to hide what he was doing.
During the seven minutes, no one else was close by, though a few blue-vested employees could be seen walking by the nearby checkout counters.
About 40 minutes later, a female employee is seen on the video moving the fully loaded carts away from the jewelry counter to near the checkouts.
About 9:30 p.m., a manager noticed that the jewelry display case was empty, which was not normal, according to the police report. It was found that the locking mechanism was removed.
One of the suspects used a black pipe wrench, which was on display for sale at Walmart, to pry open the display case, police said. The suspect then emptied the case and placed all the items in his pockets, police said.
The main suspect was described as a Hispanic man and wearing a black and gray coat, black pants, white shoes and a baseball cap.
The manager believed two other men were serving as lookouts, police said. One man's description resembled the one who brought one of the fully loaded carts and immediately walked away. He was described as Hispanic or black and wearing glasses, an orange shirt, tan pants and black shoes.
The third man was described as Hispanic and wearing a baseball cap, a red and gray jacket, and blue jeans.
The manager believed the theft was similar to one on March 27 at the Walmart at 4626 W. Diversey Ave. in Chicago, police said.
