Store Burglary, Car Theft: Darien Cops
Burglars carried an ATM out of the store, police report says.
DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police have handled cases involving a store burglary, a car theft, a house burglary, shoplifting and a person driving in circles. Here is the information from the latest Darien police reports:
Store burglary
- A burglary at Darien Liquor, 8125 Cass Ave., happened about 5 a.m. July 29. Officers were called because of a burglar alarm. Officers noted the front glass door was broken and items were in disarray. Security camera footage showed three suspects leaving in a black SUV. One of them is seen using a tire iron to break the glass in the front door. They carried an ATM out the door and put it in the SUV. It was unknown how much currency was in the ATM or how much estimated damage occurred.
Car theft

- A 2015 white Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen about 4:30 a.m. July 28 in the 8400 block of Captons Lane. The victim said he woke up to the sound of an engine starting and that it sounded like his car. The victim said he thought he locked the car when he left it in the apartment parking lot. The area around the space had broken glass. The estimated loss was $26,600.
Shoplifting
- Two men placed numerous electric hair clippers into their shopping baskets and stole them about 1:30 p.m. July 27 at Sally Beauty Supply, 2125 75th St. The clippers were valued at $1,611.
House burglary

- A house in the 1600 block of Wildwood Lane was burglarized between 9:30 a.m. July 22 and 4:30 p.m. July 25. Three tote bags from a shelf were stolen from the garage. The loss was estimated at $250.
Driving in circles
- About 3 a.m. July 28, a car was seen driving in circles. An officer stopped the driver, a 17-year-old from Chicago. The driver said he was lost and trying to get to Bolingbrook. He admitted to driving without a license. He was cited on charges of no valid driver's license and improper use of registration. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Warrant arrest
- Adam Valliere, 24, of Downers Grove, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Friday on a DuPage County warrant charging failure to appear. He turned himself into the police department. He was released on bond and given a date to appear in court.
