Unpermitted Darien Solicitor Wanted In Another State

In another case, a woman was accused of stealing items near donation bins, police said.

DARIEN, IL – Darien police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

Solicitor wanted

  • Near Brompton Drive and Green Valley Road, an officer responded Friday to a complaint from a resident who asked solicitors for their permits to sell door-to-door. The solicitors did not have them. One of the solicitors, a 54-year-old Firestone, Colorado, man, had a Collin County, Texas, warrant charging theft. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Firestone is north of Denver, while Collin County is in Dallas' northern suburbs.

  • A 70-year-old Woodridge woman was cited Thursday on a charge of obtaining or exerting control over the property of another without the owner's permission. About 2 a.m., a car was seen parked next to the AmVets donation bins in the parking lot at Walmart, 2189 75th St. Police said the driver was putting items left by the bins into her car. She was given a court date and then released.

Domestic battery

  • A 26-year-old Justice man was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday on two counts of domestic battery and two counts of peace bond violations. Police said an officer responded to a domestic disturbance in the 7400 block of Brookdale Drive. The officer discovered the man had warrants from McLean, Tazewell and Kane counties charging failure to appear in court. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • Police showed up about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield Road, for a report that someone stole a person's hockey equipment valued at $279.
