DARIEN, IL – Darien on Thursday gave the public an idea about its priorities in plowing streets.

In its weekly newsletter, the city said it takes about four hours to plow all local streets once.

The top priority is high-traffic arterial streets, which are plowed and then plowed again, if necessary. Next are traffic collector streets, which move traffic from local streets to arterial roads.

Finally, the city plows residential streets and cul-de-sacs.

Once all streets are open and passable, the city said, crews start addressing other concerns, including cutting down large piles of snow at intersections that may interfere with drivers' line of sight.
