150 Best Illinois Towns to Call Home: Deerfield is No. 4

Niche reporting site shows three nearby towns that have it better.

A national niche reporting website gave much love to Deerfield in its latest list, “The 150 Best Towns to Call Home.” Based on specific formula, the village ranked fourth on the list thanks in large part to the education and technological component.

RoadSnacks.net, in analyzing 342 of the state’s most populous cities, recently ranked the best and worst places to live in Illinois using FBI crime data, the government census, Labor Bureau statistics and Sperling’s Best Places. The website’s rankings are based on unemployment, housing, median income, education, crime and population density. Many of these communities perennially rank high on annual Time, Money and Business Week lists of the Best Places to Live.

“Deerfield High School is always atop the state rankings when it comes to academics, and Deerfield is home to several leading technology and medical companies,” according to the study. “The crime rate is actually a lot lower in Deerfield than it is in Highland Park. Statistically, Deerfield is the 21st safest place you can live in Illinois.”

Deerfield has a lot to be proud of. In addition to a top notch education at Deerfield High School and through District 109, the village home to about 18,000 people is also the headquarters site for several large corporations such as Baxter International, Walgreen’s, Takeda and CF Industries.

We also have close ties to Chicago sports history. The Berto Center was the practice home for the Bulls for a couple of decades and during the 1987 NFL Strike, the Bears practiced at Deerfield High School while they were locked out of Halas Hall.
