📰 News we're reading

• Deerfield Urged To Step Up Dementia-Friendly Efforts As Population Ages (patch.com) — Deerfield officials are partnering with Lake County Partners in Aging to strengthen dementia-friendly initiatives as more older residents live alone and rely on local support. The Village Board also ratified over $55,000 in emergency tree-removal after a damaging July 27 storm and approved a new wastewater pump for the Deerfield Pumping Station, highlighting ongoing infrastructure and climate-related pressures on the community.

• Louie Shaffer isn't the only Deerfield player 'focused on changing things around.' But it starts with him. (chicagotribune.com) — Deerfield football fans will see senior captain Louie Shaffer leading the Warriors' push to rebound from last year's one-win season, after he returned from a serious collarbone injury. His leadership, on-field production, and behind-the-scenes work with coaches have teammates and coaches optimistic as Deerfield enters its new CSL Central schedule.
