• Couple, Pet Dog Rescued After Truck Plunges Into Deerfield Pond (patch.com) — Emergency crews rescued a man, woman, and dog after their truck plunged off northbound I-294 into a pond near Lake Cook Road in Deerfield Wednesday morning. One person was taken to a hospital with injuries, and Illinois State Police are still investigating the single-vehicle crash. Expect ongoing police presence and possible traffic impacts near that stretch of the tollway.
• Victim rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being found in garage fire in Lincolnshire (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Fire crews from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and neighboring departments, including Deerfield, responded Wednesday to a serious garage fire on Pembroke Lane in Lincolnshire, where an adult was found badly injured and rushed to the hospital. The blaze was quickly contained to the garage, leaving only minor smoke damage inside the home, while state and local investigators continue working to determine the cause.
• Deerfield family demands accountability after dog dies in pet daycare van (wgntv.com) — A Deerfield family is grieving after their dog Miller died when he was apparently left for hours in a Waggles Pet Resort transport van during extreme heat. The Serotas, whose home is in Deerfield, say they trusted the service for years and are now demanding accountability and better safeguards so no other pet is harmed this way.
