• New Fiber Network Planned Across Deerfield After Village Board Approval (patch.com) — Deerfield residents can expect a major new fiber-optic network after the Village Board approved Ezee Fiber's right-of-way agreement, paving the way for service to about 95 percent of homes. Officials, mindful of recent problems with AT&T's work in Deerfield, built in stricter rules on construction timing, resident notifications, restoration standards, and third-party oversight to better protect neighborhoods during the multiyear buildout.
• Illinois Expands Access for Medical Cannabis Patients and Dispensaries (southernillinoisnow.com) — Illinois medical cannabis patients now have more dispensary options statewide as 37 existing shops gain licenses to serve both medical and adult-use customers. Deerfield's State Rep. Bob Morgan backed the change, saying it improves patient access and creates new opportunities for small cannabis businesses across Illinois.
• Details On The Death Of Former Bears Star And Super Bowl XX Champion Matt Suhey Have Come To Light (fadeawayworld.net) — Former Chicago Bears fullback and Super Bowl XX champion Matt Suhey died Sunday after being found unresponsive at his home in Deerfield, where local police and the Lake County Coroner determined he passed from natural causes. The longtime resident is remembered as a tough player, devoted friend to Walter Payton, and beloved figure in the Bears community.
