Battery With A Deadly Weapon Charge: Lake County Sheriff's Blotter

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The following information comes from the Lake County Sheriff's Office and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. ARRESTS

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

• Vivian D. Jones, 64, of the 1500 block of Victoria Avenue, North Chicago, had a warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and was arrested April 24 in the 300 block of Washington Street, Waukegan. Bond was set at $35,000 and a court date of May 8 was assigned.
• Clarence D. Banks, 50, of the 1400 block of Yale Avenue, Zion, is accused of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, aggravated resisting arrest, driving while license revoked, improper transportation of cannabis, no insurance, and was arrested April 26 at 33rd Street and North Avenue, Zion. Bond was set at $100,000 and a court date of May 3 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

• Ricardo Ortiz, 56, of the 1100 block of Clarendon Drive, Round Lake Beach, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, and had a warrant for aggravated DUI, and was arrested April 25 at Route 120 and Hunt Club Road, unincorporated Gurnee. Bond was set at $300,000 and a court date of May 22 was assigned.
• Jorge Zarate-Mendez, 34, of the 37700 block of N. Green Way Road, Beach Park, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated speeding (102 mph in a 40 mph zone), and was arrested April 27 at Yorkhouse and Green Bay roads, Beach Park. Bond was set at $3,000 and a court date of May 31 was assigned.
• Ramon Gomez, 41, of the 200 block of Orchard Place, Fox Lake, is accused of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested April 28 at Wakefield Drive and Green Bay Road, Beach Park. Bond was set at $25,000 and a court date of May 3 was assigned.
• Brayan Trejo, 27, of the 2000 block of Edgewood Road, Waukegan, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, no driver's license, open transportation of alcohol, and was arrested April 29 at Yorkhouse and Green Bay roads, Beach Park. Bond was set at $75,000 and a court date of May 15 was assigned.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

Jose G. Alvarez-Velasquez, 38, of the 1200 block of Lunt Street, Chicago, is accused of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, and was arrested April 25 in the 26200 block of N. Hickory Avenue, unincorporated Mundelein. Bond was set at $100,000 and a court date of May 25 was assigned.

CONTEMPT OF COURT

Randall L. Schoenke, 50, of the 23300 block of W. Grass Lake Road, unincorporated Antioch, had a warrant for contempt of court, and was arrested April 26 at Wadsworth Road and Gabriel Avenue, Beach Park. Bond was set at $6,000 and a court date of May 15 was assigned.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED

• Jeffrey Howes, 42, of the 24500 block of W. Passavant Avenue, unincorporated Round Lake, is accused of driving while license suspended, no insurance, and was arrested April 26 in the 1100 block of Edgewater Lane, Antioch. Bond was set at $2,000.
• Gonzalo A. Gonzalez, 31, of the 38500 block of N. Sheridan Road, Beach Park, had a warrant for driving while license suspended, and was arrested April 27 in the 38500 block of N. Sheridan Road, Beach Park. Bond was set at $50,000 and a court date of May 23 was assigned.
• Manuel Gonzalez-Mancilla, 43, of the 1300 block of Baldwin Court, Palatine, is accused of driving while license suspended, suspended registration, and was arrested April 27 in the 20700 bock of Route 12, Deer Park. Bond was set at $1,500.

RETAIL THEFT

Brandi R. Wilcox, 50, of the 2200 block of Jethro Avenue, Zion, had a warrant out of Cook County for retail theft, and was arrested April 28 in the 41500 block of N. Sheridan Road, unincorporated Zion. There was no bond set in the case and a future court date in Cook County was to be determined at the time of the report.

LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT

Ramiro Hernandez Torres, 26, of the 2900 block of Willow Lane, Zion, is accused of no driver's license, leaving the scene of an accident, and was arrested April 28 at Route 41 and Stearns School Road, unincorporated Gurnee. Bond was set at $1,500.

BATTERY

Steven M. Peifer, 62, of the 35600 block of N. Marine Drive, Ingleside, is accused of battery, and was arrested April 29 in the 35600 block of N. Marine Drive, Ingleside. Bond was set at $1,500 and a court date of May 31 was assigned.

NO DRIVER'S LICENSE

Nicholas M. Tomaschek, 39, of the 0-100 block of S. Lake Avenue, Fox Lake, had a warrant out of McHenry County for no driver's license, and was arrested April 29 at Blackhawk Avenue and Ingleside Lane, Ingleside. Bond was set at $6,000 and a future court date in McHenry County was to be determined at the time of the report.
