Sanctuary Sounds: Masterworks for the Spirit Inaugural Concert

Concert I: A Halloween Haunting, October 24, 2026, 2pm

In this theatrical and musically compelling program, pianist Susan Merdinger and members of the Sheridan Solisti present Halloween Haunting, an imaginative concert of “ghost-themed” classical works for piano, organ, and chamber ensemble by Bach, Beethoven, Bolcom, Liszt and Levinson. The program features author and narrator Karen Kaplan presenting excerpts from her novel “Conjoined”, interwoven with music reflecting themes of memory, spirit, and the supernatural. A centerpiece of the program is the Chicago live premiere of Dybbuk Piano Trio by Grammy-nominated composer Ilya Levinson.The Sanctuary Sounds Concert Series is Free and Open to the Public, but donations are gratefully accepted on the Highland Park Presbyterian Church website. www.hppcil.org
