Catalytic Converter Theft Arrests Made In Ongoing Investigation: Riverwoods PD Blotter

Police said over 130 catalytic converters, precious metals, and other car parts were recovered at a storage facility in Chicago.

RIVERWOODS, IL — The following information comes from the Riverwoods Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

  • Lawrence W. Guider, 41, of the 500 block of 46th Avenue, Bellwood, is accused of speeding, improper lane usage, open transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 2:53 a.m. Feb. 14, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. He was released and assigned a court date of March 12.
  • Katherine D. Leary, 40, of the 1400 block of Cavell Avenue, Highland Park, is accused of speeding, open transportation of alcohol, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, DUI alcohol, and was arrested at 3:54 a.m. Feb. 15, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. She was released and assigned a court date of March 12.
  • Martyna Janina Andreaskik, 22, of the 1700 block of Johnson Drive, Buffalo Grove, is accused of speeding, improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, DUI alcohol, and was arrested at 12:52 a.m. Feb. 16, near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. She was released and assigned a court date of March 12.

THEFT

At 10:15 a.m. Feb. 14, Riverwoods police executed a search warrant on a storage facility in the Chicago. A detective from the Lyons Police Department, who was investigating a similar case in Lyons, assisted in the search. The search warrant was a result of an on-going investigation of the theft of three catalytic converters from a business in the 700 block of Saunders Road on Jan. 23. Two suspects, Michael Ely, 48, of the 3800 block of N. Kilpatrick Avenue, Chicago; and Christopher T. Miller, 21, of the 3500 block of W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago; were arrested and charged with felony theft on Feb. 10. Police said over 130 catalytic converters, precious metals, and other car parts were recovered.
