Chicago-Detroit 14U Maccabi Baseball Team Visits Whitehall

Players Spend A Sunday Morning Cheering Up Residents

As they ready for their August 9th trip to Fort Lauderdale to compete in the 2015 Maccabi Games, the Chicago-Detroit 14U baseball team took a break from their on-field preparations to visit the residents of Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare Center. This past Sunday, August 2nd, Coaches Matt Schoner and Paul Chanan brought several ballplayers to the facility for a tour. The boys explained to the residents the mission of the olympic-style Maccabi Games, which fosters mutual respect and sportsmanship, and where athletes and other participants can interact in an atmosphere of fun, democracy, and peace.  Over 6,000 teens, ranging from 13 to 16 years of age, participate in the JCC Maccabi Games® each summer. The Games are co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Center Association of North America, Maccabi World Union, Maccabi Canada, and Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel.
