Terrorism and random violence are creating a great deal of anxiety in our society.  In times like this the Good News of Jesus Christ must be proclaimed with a spirit of peace, love and understanding.  Hostility, hatred and violence naturally spread when fear and anxiety are high, and this is the time for Christians to courageously push back the darkness of fear and violence.

Christ United Methodist Church will welcome Imam Hazim Fazlic of the Islamic Cultural Center of Greater Chicago in Northbrook, Illinois to have a conversation with Pastor Brian Roots on Sunday, January 10th.  The two religious leaders will discuss the connection between religiously motivated violence and the sacred scriptures of Islam and Christianity during the worship service at 10 a.m.   After worship there will be a time of questions and answers.

For more information on Imam Hazim Fazlic and the Islamic Cultural  Center of Greater Chicago, go to www.icc-greaterchicago.com.

The following four weeks we’ll look at current events through the lens of what the Bible says about relationships with people outside our group identity.  Each week we will focus on what people are doing in and around our community to promote justice and peace.
