Deerfield Based Cosi Losses Shrink

Deerfield based , posted a loss of four cents per share for the final quarter of last year showing an improvement over the same period a year ago but falling short of industry projections, according to a report issued recently by NASDAQ.

The company showed a 3.3 percent jump in restaurant sales from the same time last year as well as an improved average check and traffic.

Operating losses for the quarter were $2.3 million as compared to $2.9 million for the same quarter the year before. At the end of the period, Cosi had 136 restaurants of which 80 are company owned and 56 were franchises.
