Deerfield High School's Anderson Named Principal Of The Year

Administrators made the selection through the Lake County Region Of The Illinois Principals Association.

DEERFIELD, IL — Since 2016, Kathryn Anderson has been an important part of the local education community as the principal at Deerfield High School. For her efforts, Anderson was recently named Principal of the Year in Lake County as part of the statewide Illinois Principals Association.

"This award is truly a reflection of the collective efforts of our entire school community to ensure that all students receive the necessary support to achieve their greatest potential in academics, extracurriculars and beyond," Anderson told Patch. "It is my privilege and honor to work with such phenomenal students, staff and families. Go, Warriors!"

Following her win in the IPA Lake Region, Anderson has now qualified for the same award at the state level.

Under Anderson's leadership, DHS was named a recipient of the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award last fall.

"[This is a] recognition of her leadership, commitment to DHS, and quality as an educator who works tirelessly for all DHS students," Bruce Law, superintendent of Township High School District 113, said.
