The following obituary is courtesy of Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home and Crematory.

Wilson Lewis Hamilton, 90, of Deerfield IL and Montague MI, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2015 with his family by his side. Loving husband of the late Molly Frances (Dangerfield) for 51 years; lifelong friend and dear companion of Ann Cannon; beloved father of Deborah and Kenneth. Proudly served in the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant and bridge officer on deck of the command flagship U.S.S. Adirondack. Graduate of Duke University and University of Minnesota, Wilson enjoyed his career in applicationsengineering. He was a self-taught amateur physicist, astronomer and meteorologist. A consummate mariner, outdoorsman and one of the earliest scuba divers, he cherished his adventures in the deep woods and on the water, around the water and under the water. Our dad, our hero. We remember lullabies when we were young and rides to school so we did not have to take the bus or walk. Exceedingly resourceful, Wilson could build, repair, or invent just about anything. He taught us everything about honesty, integrity, faith, and joy, and we will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 10:00 am at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 330 Laurel Ave. Highland Park, IL. A private interment will take place at the Hamilton Family Cemetery in Montague, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 330 Laurel Ave. Highland Park, IL.
