Sachs Recreation Center Facility Closed August 14-27

The Sachs Recreation Center will be closed for facility maintenance and renovations from Monday, August 14 through Sunday, August 27. During the closure there will be several projects happening, projects are listed below:
- Northeast building fitness center and gym walls will be painted with new colors.
- East side of facility carpeting will be replaced to match west side of building.
- Northeast tile floor area by main lobby will be replaced with new carpeting .
- New running track surface will be installed, track color will match new paint and carpet.
- New furniture will be installed in the main lobby, tennis lobby and pool lobby areas.
- The divider curtain between Gym A and the Fitness Center will be replaced.
- Swimming pool and whirlpool will be drained and cleaned. Locker rooms will be deep cleaned, and pool mechanical systems will have annual preventative maintenance work performed.
- As part of our annual wood floor preventative maintenance program, the Group Exercise Studio, Gyms A&B, and racquetball court will be screened and sealed.
- A new back-up hot water boiler will be installed at the east end of the facility and will replace the existing 30 year old boiler.
During the closure, we have secured alternative locations for SRC members to go to and workout. The Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Anets Dr., Northbrook, www.nbfitness.org will be available from August 14-23 during regular business hours at no cost to SRC members. The Recreation Center of Highland Park, 1207 Park Ave., Highland Park, www.pdhp.org, will be available from August 20-26 during regular business hours at no cost to SRC members. Both facilities’ fitness center areas are available for working out. Fitness classes are not included during these times but are available for an extra fee. SRC members must present their membership ID to be allowed entry into each facility.

There will be a modified Group Exercise Class Schedule during this time that will provide daily class options. Click this link, www.AugGXschedule.org, to view class days and times along with offsite location information. Pre-registration is required for classes. Please contact Amy Kanzler, Fitness Operations Supervisor, at amy@sachsreccenter.org with group exercise class questions.
SRC members will also be able to use their membership ID to visit the Mitchell Pool at no cost during the closure. Check the park district pools webpage, www.deerfieldparks.org.parks-facilities/pools/ for up-to-date pool availability information.
The plan is to have all facility maintenance and renovations complete by August 27 and for the Sachs Recreation Center to re-open on Monday, August 28. If any delays arise during the closure causing projects to be incomplete, we may need to have certain areas of the facility closed when we re-open. We will send out a notification to all members outlining re-opening plans prior to August 27.
