Deerfield Republican Enters 10th District Congressional Race

Computer consultant and West Deerfield Township Republican Vice Chair Doug Bennett became the 3rd GOP hopeful to enter the race.

DEERFIELD, IL — Deerfield computer consultant Doug Bennett announced the launch of his campaign in the 10th Congressional District Monday, becoming the third Republican to declare his candidacy for the seat currently held by Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield). Bennett, vice chair of the West Deerfield Republicans, he would be determined to focus on doing the job rather than running for reelection, noting that the seat will be redistricted with the 2020 Census.

"I am running because I feel the district, and the country needs innovative solutions to a collapsing individual health insurance marketplace and runaway college tuition costs that are bankrupting our children," Bennet said. "I intend to address the concerns that families across our district face every day."

Bennett studied applied mathematics at Northwestern and graduated in 1985. His campaign said his more than 30 years of experience solving problems in the corporate works has given him the background to take on today's political challenges.
