Deerfield Woman Who Performed at 1933 Chicago World's Fair Has Died

Vera P. Kasimatis attended The Chicago Conservatory of Music and was an accomplished pianist.

(March 17, 1917 - February 18, 2016)
Vera Pearl (née Crealese) Kasimatis , of Deerfield, passed away on February 18, 2016, at home. She was born in Chicago on March 17, 1917, to Ralph and Assunta (De Bartolo) Crealese. Vera married Jerome Kasimatis, a Naval officer, on August 22, 1943, in Chicago.
An accomplished pianist, Vera attended The Chicago Conservatory of Music. She performed at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair with her sister, Amelita, a dancer. A devoted wife and mother, Vera enjoyed cooking and gardening. Strong in mind and body, Vera was a faithful Catholic.
She is survived by her children Louise (George) Coupe, Paul (Ann), Mary (James) Maragos, and Steven (Margaret ); cherished grandmother of 12 and great- grandmother of nine; and dear aunt to several nieces and nephews. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome (92), and sister, Amelita (95). A memorial visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2016, from 9:00 am until the memorial Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 724 Elder Lane, Deerfield, IL. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities or Holy Cross Church.
