Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association Presents College Scholarships to Six Local Graduates
The Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association presented college scholarships
At the June Deerfield Youth Baseball and Softball Association (DYBA/DYSBA) Board Meeting, the organization presented college scholarships to six local graduating high school seniors. The six DYBA/DYSBA 2016 College Scholarship Winners earned their honors through Board voting.
The Deerfield High School Softball players earning the $1,000 College Scholarship included:
- Natalie Behling – Athletic highlights include involvement in DYSBA for 12 years, playing four years of varsity softball at DHS and co-captaining the team as a senior, among many academic accolades, she was a National Honor Society Member as a Junior and Senior
- Carly Frisone – Played more than a decade with DYSBA, coached DYSBA for two years, won the 2016 Illinois State Scholar award from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), was an All-Academic Scholar Athlete (presented by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association)
- Chloe Gitlin – Involved with DYSBA for more than a decade as a player and coach, varsity DHS softball player, DYSBA Date Night Coach, Honor Roll at Deerfield High School
Longtime DYBA participants won the 2016 $1,000 College Scholarship, including:

- Ethan Friman – DYBA involvement for 12 years as a player (since the age of 5), umpire and Equipment Shed Manager, Honor Roll at Deerfield High School, DECA State Finalist
- Tyler Gold – On the field, he played T-Ball through Pony DYBA baseball and six years of DYBA travel baseball, currently coaches travel, played four years of baseball at DHS, off the field he was on the Deerfield High School Honor Roll
- Ben Wolf – For more than a decade Wolf played DYBA house and travel baseball, he played varsity at DHS and was a DYBA travel baseball coach, also, while at DHS, Wolf earned Honors Society recognition and volunteered for many years at the Moraine Township Food Pantry
“Our 2016 DYBA/DYSBA Scholarship winners are a true reflection of the type of high quality young adults Deerfield sends out into the world to make a difference,” said Michael Danielewicz , commissioner of DYBA/DYSBA. “They are role models for their peers and those that will follow in their footsteps. I am confident these six honorees will go on to do great things in the next chapters of their lives.”
